Home Security Alarm System
Keypad
This is the input device for the system. The user will input their code into the keypad to turn the device on and off. The installer will use the keypad to program the device. Some keypads can also be used by the user to turn different parts of the system on and off, if it is a zoned or partitioned design.
Monitoring
This is the method by which a monitoring company is notified of a breach. Phone monitoring is the standard. Cellular monitoring, VoIP monitoring and radio monitoring are other methods. Any one or a combination of methods can be programmed into the system.
Zone
Many residential units are zoned designs. Zones divide different sections of the alarmed area, and are usually grouped by room.
Away Arming
The user will away arm the system whenever leaving the property. This turns on all zones of the unit.
Stay Arming
Stay arming will turn on only the perimeter devices of a system, so that a user who is within the perimeter is secure within it, and the system will alert the user if the perimeter is breached.
